Your question:

How do I take baby off my breast?

Expert’s answer:

When your baby is feeling full or finished feeding they will open their mouth, and come off the breast by themselves. You can then move them from your breast.

While it’s best to let baby come off the breast by themselves, there may be times when you want to move your baby from your breast before they are finished. You will need to gently release the suction before you move your baby from your breast. You can do this by gently:

  • pressing your breast away from the corner of their mouth so that the suction is broken, or
  • putting your clean little finger into the corner of baby’s mouth – you need to make sure your nails are short, clean and have no sharp edges.
