Your question:

What is rooming-in?

Expert’s answer:

Rooming-in allows mum and baby to stay together day and night to bond and is particularly helpful for establishing breastfeeding. During this undisturbed time together mums get to know their baby’s feeding cues. When in hospital, baby sleeps in a crib next to mums’ bed where she can observe baby and respond as needed. At home baby sleeps in a crib or cot in mums’ room.

In those rare circumstances where mum is very ill or baby needs sometime in a special care baby unit rooming-in may not happen straightaway.
